Development began at TUMCREATE in Singapore under the name SemSim, led by a team of computer scientists under Prof Alois Knoll. The tool initially focused on electric vehicles.

2011
2016Becoming CityMoS
SemSim was renamed CityMoS—the City Mobility Simulator—and its scope expanded from electric vehicles to mobility systems as a whole.
2021Where it is heading
Work continued through the Mobility in Virtual Environments at Scale Laboratory with Huawei. The Singapore spin-off intobyte Pte. Ltd. was established to bring CityMoS to commercial mobility projects.

2022Borderless Silver Award
The SITEM project team, including TUMCREATE researchers, received the Borderless Silver Award in the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s annual Firefly Awards.
